ABOUT JAMILA
Jamila grew up participating in community theater, show choir and high school productions. She particularly enjoyed participating in shows at Beverly's Terrace Plaza Playhouse. Inspired by the arts, Jamila began designing costumes and wigs in 2006 before graduating from Layton High.
In 2007 she attended Taylor Andrews Academy of Hair design where she participated in several hair shows including NAHA in 2008. She went on to accept a professional internship with the Walt Disney Company in 2012 as their very first Creative Cosmetology Design Intern. Working side by side with the Creative Costuming and Cosmetology design team, she gave many beloved characters life. She went on to work full time for Disney as a Creative Cosmetologist.
In 2014 Jamila moved back to Utah and became the main costume design and wig design consultant for a new theater in Kaysville Utah called the Hopebox Theatre. She was also asked to be the in house wig specialist and costumer for Beverly's Terrace Plaza Playhouse in Washington Terrace, Utah.
She has designed shows for several theaters including Beverly's Terrace Plaza Playhouse, Hopebox Theatre, Heritage Theatre and Playbills Theater. Her favorite design work includes Tarzan, Little Mermaid, Hairspray, Scarlet Pimpernel, The Marvelous Wonderettes and Into the Woods.
